As a local business owner, dozens of working families count on me each week. I know what good jobs mean to our citizens, and their ability to provide for their families and secure the future of their children. Economic development and job creation will always be the primary focus of my public service to you. In order to create jobs, we must improve the essential elements of our infrastructure providing businesses the means to grow and succeed. We must reward innovation and creativity, encouraging businesses to invest in Georgia.
A well-educated workforce is one of the primary concerns of businesses looking to relocate. This is why I will continue to be a strong advocate supporting and improving public education. We must prepare our children for the challenges, opportunities and jobs of the future. We must also provide our teachers with the tools they need to teach. Students learn in different ways, but they all can learn, and we should not require teachers to teach the test or to standards dictated by others, and we must have more local control.
I will continue to lead the fight to cut wasteful spending, unnecessary regulations and red tape. Transparency and accountability should become the new normal, and I will always champion the cause. When I graduated from college, I returned because I knew right here was where I belonged. I will continue to work hard every day to accomplish these goals, and my door will always be open to you.
God bless and Merry Christmas!
